Lecture: Textile Sculpture

Kay Khan is a master in the art of sculpting with textiles. She has created vases and other large-scale 3D pieces using a technique she calls “extreme quilting.” Her pieces often have bridges between the parts.  She creates mosaics from bits and pieces of various textiles.   Often the idea begins with a simple word that she manipulates in her mind until it’s transformed into a visual concept.
