Sandra Ericson is a leading educator in the Clothing and Textile field. She holds both a BA and an MA Degree in Clothing and Textiles from San Jose State and San Francisco State Universities and among her many endeavors is the creation of the Center for Pattern Design. She designs permanent pleats on fabric to make garments ala Babette.

Description: This pleating class will explore all the ways that folds can be incorporated into the design of clothing for dramatic decorative effects and also functional reasons such as creating fit and comfort. The pleated designs of the best designers will be explained and illustrated to spark creativity and prompt new ideas for pattern design. The workshop will start students off on their pleating adventures with a hands-on teapot project using the Japanese boumaki pleating technique and it’s wide range of design possibility.
